Lessons from the 21 year old me (From the archives)

Article written by the 21 year old me, worried of citing the source. Cringe version on WWW. DEVILONHEELS.BLOGSPOT.COM

PS: Of the 4 mentioned, one I married, one is my comfort zone, one got away and one I left. So, some dreams do come through.

Today is my birthday, and I'm finally turning 21! It feels like it's high time for me to become mature and smart, but despite my efforts, I guess I'm still immature and silly. The past year has been incredibly challenging, but it has also been a transformative period that has shaped me into a better person, thanks to a few close friends in my life.

I have set some guidelines for myself, not necessarily strict goals, but rather rules I should follow. I may not be the most sensible person to seek advice from, but I have learned a little from my mistakes, experiences, and the people I've encountered. I often find myself making the wrong friends and poor decisions, but the consequences have ultimately molded me into the unique person I am today. So, I hope that by sharing my rules, they may help at least one of you:

  1. Allow yourself to sulk, but do it alone.

  2. When one door closes, search for the open door instead of lingering in front of the closed one.

  3. Be loyal to your friends, no matter what challenges arise. Don't lose hope in them, as you once liked them and became friends for a reason.

  4. Refrain from giving advice.

  5. Keep smiling, as there is always a high after a low.

  6. Life is too short to make mistakes and learn solely from your own experiences, so learn from others as well.

As I approach my 22nd year next, I hope to become a bit more mature and sensible. I want to express my gratitude to Dum, Bozo, Fatty, and Mr. Abu Dhafi for helping me understand who I am today. Although we may not be on the best terms currently, I believe that one day we will come back together as better individuals
